Channel 4 now testing Free To Air

Channel 4 is currently broadcasting on 10729.00 V 22000.  It is thought that it is a test for the upcoming launch of Freesat in  the UK.

Have you ever sat in to watch a program on C4 only to get the message " This progam is unavailable".  Channel 4 do not have the rights to broadcast certain programming in Ireland so until this is sorted the previous message will be displayed on Channel 4 on the Sky Platform.  However why not tune in C4 in other channels so when the message appears you can switch over to the Free to Air broacast.

It is thought that this is a test for the upcoming launch of Freesat in the UK. Rumored to be launching in May, Freesat is the UK's government response to certain parts of the UK being unable to receive Freeview, the Uk's Digital Terrestrial Broadcast.  The question is will the Irish Commission respond in the same way.  With certain areas in Ireland unable to receive any terrestrial signal will the Irish Broadcasting commission push a satellite alternative for those in poor reception areas?
