The death of HD DVD. 24/02/08

So Toshiba has announced that it will cease its production of HD DVD players and development of the technology HD DVD.  Is that it? Will the future be Blu-ray disc?  Warner Brothers think differently, their aim is to use Blu-ray as a transition to digital download.

It may seem a far off dream to us in rural Ireland with slow if any broadband, but most of us have our music collection converted to digital format already.  With devices like, Apple TV, Sling Box and Neuros OSD, allowing you to download/convert/view without the need for a PC, why not drop physical media completely.

Have a look at the article below from CNET on Blu-ray and downloadable video.
